How We’re CONNECTED! (PERSONAL)

🙌 YOU CANNOT GIVE WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE. 🙌

This past week I volunteered at the Group Youth Leadership Summit in San Diego, serving over 350 youth, ages 14 to 16, from 31 countries! 😲

From Australia to Malaysia to Kenya, participants came from many different backgrounds, lifestyles, and cultures. 🌎

All from different places, yet we as volunteers came together for a purpose bigger than ourselves: to inspire, liberate, and create breakthroughs for the next generation of leaders! And in the process, many (including myself) experienced breakthroughs of our own! 👣

Sure we may be different: in age, in height, in background. But yet we’re also very much alike. Don’t think so? Society loves to focus on how we’re different, how separate and divided we stand, why we should fear each other and our neighbors. ↔️

But I’ll tell you one thing that unites us all, something that will never be divided: our common humanity. What it means to be human. What it means to love. ❤️

This past week we created an event for future leaders to realize they’re not alone in this world and provide them the space to open up about their deepest hopes and fears. Some don’t have a place at home to be open like this, so it’s even more a blessing we offer it for them here. 🙌

Fear of not being accepted? 😨

“We all relate.” ❤️

Fear of not being good enough? 😨

“We all relate.” ❤️

Fear of not succeeding in life? 😨

“We all relate.” ❤️

We let them all know honestly and sincerely: we all relate. It’s part of being human. 🤲

I wish I knew the stuff the kids were learning when I was their age! I wish I had attended a place like this when I was younger! 😅

A key principle the youth learned last week: You cannot give what you do not have. As a leader, you cannot lead unless you also lead yourself first. If you’re not 100% for yourself, you can’t be 100% for others. You can only give what you already have. 💯

To change the world you first have to change yourself, not the other way around. Gandhi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” It starts and ends with us all: the growth of us as individuals. Let’s begin…! ❤️ #GYLS2019

How Giving Back is FULFILLING! (PERSONAL)

💬 “No one has ever become poor by giving.” ~ Anne Frank 💬

I haven’t told any of you about Kieran. I mean practically no one! Not on social media. Not even on the Tony Robbins Crew. But I think it’s time I introduced you all to him! 😃

It was a a bit over a year ago I met him. But here’s a plot twist I must share with you all: it was NOT through a Tony Robbins event! I know, shocking right?! 😂

Actually, we met through Instagram. We shared a few common interests, chatted here and there, and for the most part we were just acquaintances. He was a nice guy. 😃

But it was around this time last year I was volunteering in London for UPW’s 2018 event, and Kieran saw my social media posts about the event. He was curious about it, and I started chatting with him about the work of Tony Robbins. What first was a short conversation turned into a very lengthy one! 🙌

And then came a moment in our conversation I will never forget, one that continues to stick out in my mind as I write this! It was the day after UPW had ended. I was heading back home, walking to the train station in Canary Wharf. But while I was surrounded by many corporate buildings, my eyes were more or less glued to my phone chatting with Kieran about the event! 😄

And then I made a very big statement, one you might have said was “crazy” to make the way I did, in such a matter of fact way. But I was also dead serious. ⚠️

I told him:

😲 “If you want to attend next year, I’ll see to it I get you there.” 😲

I remember even as I sent him the message a part of my mind was saying: “How the hell are you going to do that?! You’re not made of money!” 😠

But I said I’d do it…

…Flash forward to two weeks ago, April 11. It’s the end of Day 1 at UPW London and the Firewalk just finished. Kieran has just walked over a thousand-degree hot coals. I come up to him at the sear risers to finally meet him personally. He is covered in sweat. His voice is hoarse. He’s been “playing full out” at the event for over 12 hours. He should be ready to go to sleep, right?! 👍

🛑 Nope! 🛑

He is brimming with energy! He’s smiling from ear to ear! He’s hugging me so tightly his arms are shaking! And he can’t stop thanking me! 🙏

Over the next few days I’m driven to tears multiple times as I see how much he is getting out of the event. Though my job was a Floor Captain this event (the earpiece in the photo), I did sneak an occasion or two to check in on him! 👣

For all the text and video chats we use to have on Instagram, I witnessed a very different person that weekend. A transformed individual! It was beautiful to witness! 👐

He said to me: “I get it now! I use to see you jumping and yelling and dancing and all in your videos. But I actually get it now!” 🕺

I’m so grateful I was able to help make this happen for him! But I also couldn’t have made this happen if it wasn’t for my good friend Ruth Hiller. Ruth, I cannot thank you enough for offering a UPW ticket to him! Because of your act of kindness, I was able to pay it forward to an amazing soul, and it’s more than I can communicate in words! Thank you! 💕

🌟 When you have the chance to give back to others, just do it. It’s a feeling like no other! 🌟

Kieran: I look forward to seeing how you continue to apply what you learned and where you’re headed next on your life’s journey! As I said to you right before we took this photo: “You get to take this all this with you now wherever you go!” Much love, brother! ❤️ #EudaimonicLife

How to Give When You “CAN’T”! (PERSONAL)

Written January 26, 2019

.

🌟 Give, even when you think you can’t.
.
What do you do when you get fearful?
For many of us, we tend to fall back into our old habits, old patterns, old forms of security, even if they no longer serve us in the present moment.
.
For a temporary state of emotion, we regress. 🔙
.
For a lot of 2018, I admit there wasn’t a single day I didn’t have a financial stress cross my mind. I don’t say it for pity; I say it to be honest. 🗣️
.
It’s hard for me to admit it, but I also hold my brand to be more authentic online than the ones who act like someone they’re not. 👍
.
I’m not really broke or poor (although I am in the lower digits). But it’s the lack of an uncertain future or what I fully want to create with my life where fear has gotten access to my emotional home to focus on the wrong things. 😨
.
There are definitely even moments of fear this year as I’ve made a goal to travel every single month to serve somewhere and learn in some way. 🌎
.
I’m so grateful I have the opportunity to help Crew another Tony Robbins event, to learn and to grow once again. While I know there is naivety to creating this goal, I also embrace the faith in continuing to give, even when I don’t think I can, that somehow some way it will pay off in a way I cannot foresee. I believe in Karma. 💫
.
How that will be I don’t know. But I simply believe, and so be it. Again, perhaps it’s simply naivety and it was for nothing. Perhaps something will indeed happen with my current focuses. 🤷‍♂️
.
Whatever happens…I know I let myself live. I let myself feel alive. I did what I wanted to do fully. I made my life worth living. Remembering that overtakes any temporary fear. Remembering that makes me cry. How could one live a life more fully than that? To use the Greek word: Eudaimonia! ❤️
.
Regardless of how many times I’ve heard Tony’s content and quotes, I want to extend a quote that continues to resonate with me on my ongoing journey of personal growth: “Repetition is the mother of skill.” 💬
.
The learning never stops, just as your potential for growth never stops. Thus, I continue on into the Uncertainty! I embrace every moment! 💪#BusinessMastery
