Why You Should See ME as YOU!

As we continue to meet new people, explore the world, and seek to find ourselves, let’s keep this reminder: every person we meet is a human being. 👤

They each have emotions. Beliefs. Values. Ideas. Just like I do. They each have reasons for why they do what they do. Just like I do. And they sometimes don’t know why they do what they do. Just like I do. 🙋‍♂️

It’s not to say we’re 100% equal on every level. Part of the beauty of this life is in experiencing our uniqueness: our history, our cultures, our skills, our knowledge, and our stories. 📖

🌟 If we were all 100% equal in every single way, life would get boring very fast! 🌟

Every person has the potential to teach us something, whether we believe it or not. Think of it like this: not a single person on this Earth has ever lived the exact same life as another human being. So no one is 100% exactly the same! 😲

So the next time we communicate with someone, let’s remember this fact. What would happen if we went into every new conversation with this in mind? 🧠 #TranscendLabels

Why We LABEL!

🤬 “If you don’t agree with me, you are a [label]!” 🤬
.
Why do we label? 🤔
.
It’s important to first acknowledge we need labeling. It helps us put a face to the things we don’t understand. It helps us make sense of our physical reality. It saves our brains a ton of time and energy to generalize people and things. 👍
.
If we didn’t label anything, we’d be downright exhausted trying to always make sense of every single thing we perceive! 😓
.
🌟 But everything contains its opposites. Labeling also has its limits. 🌟
.
How? To the person we are quick to demonize. To the person we are quick to put down to lift ourselves up. To the person we’ve never met yet place their entire existence on a single label. 👤
.
🌟 Labels don’t always serve us. 🌟
.
Constantly generalizing doesn’t help us in seeking to better understand our world. Constantly labeling doesn’t help us in looking outside the box of a label’s definition. 👍
.
🌟 Labeling also gives acceptance to what we believe to be true, even if it objectively isn’t. 🌟
.
It’s easier to generalize than to understand. But let’s not forget how rewarding seeking to understand is 🔎 :
.
📍 To discover there’s an entire world outside our understanding we have yet to explore!
📍 The fulfillment in taking the chance to connect with someone you never thought you’d appreciate and actually connect.
📍 The pleasure in knowing you didn’t let your Generalization Instinct control how you lived your life.
.
